Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Herbly if I already see a GP, physiotherapist or specialist?

Yes. Tell the Herbly clinical team about your diagnosis, scans, current medicines, previous treatments and any care you receive from other healthcare professionals.

Herbly does not replace necessary ongoing care from your GP, physiotherapist, pain specialist, spinal specialist or other treating healthcare professionals. Do not stop or change existing treatments without speaking with the healthcare professional responsible for your care.

What happens after I complete the online health check?

After completing the online check, you’ll be invited to book a conversation with one of our nurses. The nurse will review your information, discuss your symptoms and medical history, and help prepare you for a doctor consultation.

You’ll then speak with a registered Australian doctor who will assess your circumstances and discuss suitable treatment options. If treatment is clinically appropriate and prescribed, you’ll be able to order online and arrange express delivery to your home.

How much does it cost to get started?

Getting started is affordable and straightforward:

  • Standard Consultation: $19
  • Concession Card Holders: $15

What does the $19 consultation fee cover?

The $19 fee covers your 20-minute doctor consultation. Your online eligibility check and initial nurse consultation are free. Any additional costs associated with a treatment plan are separate and will be explained before you proceed.

How do I know which treatment is appropriate for me?

Our team will work with you to determine the most suitable treatment through a comprehensive consultation. We take into account your individual health history, current symptoms, and any previous treatments you've tried to create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Can I book if previous treatments have not helped?

Yes. You can request a consultation if previous approaches have not provided the support you hoped for. The doctor will review your medical history, current medicines and previous treatments before discussing whether any other options may be appropriate. No particular treatment or outcome can be guaranteed.

Do I need a prescription to use your treatments?

In most cases, yes, a prescription is required for our treatments. Our healthcare professionals will assess your condition and, if appropriate, provide a prescription as part of your personalised treatment plan.

Can you tell me in advance what treatment I will receive?

No. Treatment cannot be selected or recommended before the doctor has assessed your individual circumstances.

If the doctor determines that treatment is appropriate, they will discuss suitable options with you during your private consultation.

Are there any hidden fees I should be aware of?

No. We are very transparent with our pricing, there are no additional fees, lock-in contracts, medical report fees, or extra prescription fees like some other clinics.

Does a consultation guarantee treatment or a prescription?

No. The doctor makes an independent clinical decision based on your individual circumstances. If the service or a particular treatment is not appropriate for you, the team will explain the available next steps.

Understanding sciatic nerve pain

Sciatica and Radiating Leg Pain

Sciatica describes pain that begins in the lower back or buttock and travels down the leg along the pathway of the sciatic nerve. It occurs when the nerve or one of its nerve roots becomes irritated, inflamed or compressed.

Symptoms commonly affect one side of the body and may include pain, tingling, numbness or weakness. The location, severity and duration of symptoms can differ considerably between individuals.

Pain that travels down the leg

Sciatic pain may begin in the lower back or buttock before travelling through the thigh, calf or foot. It can feel burning, shooting, sharp or similar to an electric shock.

Tingling, numbness and weakness

Some people experience pins and needles, numbness or weakness in the affected leg or foot. Symptoms may become more noticeable when bending, twisting, coughing, sneezing or sitting for extended periods.

Causes and everyday movement

Sciatica may be associated with a disc problem, narrowing around the spinal nerves or another condition affecting the lower spine. Persistent symptoms can interfere with sleep, walking, sitting, driving, work and everyday activities.
